Are Nasal Tanners Safe? Side Effects Honest Guide
Side effects, what's normal and what isn't.
Honest version. Most of the UK nasal tanner category buries this on a hidden FAQ. We put it on a dedicated page because it matters.
What's normal
Hot flush, day 1
About 1 in 5 customers feel a hot flush within 5-15 minutes of the first spray. Lasts the same window. It's a histamine response, not an allergic reaction.
What to do: drink a pint of water before bed. Sleep through it. Day 2 it's much milder. Day 3 it's nothing.
Mild headache or fatigue, day 1
Some customers feel a mild headache or "off" feeling for an hour or so on day 1. Same histamine cascade. Same fix: water + sleep.
Mild nausea, day 1 only
Less common. Brief. Same response. Drink water, eat something light, sleep.
What's NOT normal, stop using and act
Severe reaction
If you experience any of the following, stop using immediately and seek medical advice:
- Symptoms lasting longer than 30 minutes (significantly longer than the normal 5-15 min flush)
- Breathing difficulty or wheezing
- Heart palpitations or rapid heart rate
- Facial or throat swelling
- Severe headache lasting hours
- Fainting or near-fainting

Who shouldn't use it
This product isn't for everyone. Don't use it if:
- You're under 18.
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have a known allergy to melanotan or related compounds.
- You're on medication that warns against histamine release. Common examples: some MAOIs, some antidepressants, some heart medications. If unsure, check with a GP.
- You have severe asthma or other respiratory conditions where histamine response could trigger symptoms.
Tan went orange?
That's not normal for Triple Strength. The active ingredient produces real melanin (brown), not orange.
If you've gone orange, you've probably also used a fake tan cream, mousse, or sunbed at the same time. The two are reacting on top of each other.
